Our annual Autumn in the Botanic Garden festival kicks off Thursday, September 22 and runs through Sunday, October 30, 2022. The Garden will be open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with late hours (open until 8 p.m.) on Thursdays, during Autumn in the Botanic Garden Tuesday-Sunday (included with regular admission): Explore our Oklahoma-shaped straw hay maze and shop from over 14 varieties of pumpkins and gourds as well as dried heirloom cob corn. A very unusual and rare plant landed in John Hawkins’ home several years ago. As John learned the storied history of the plant and saw the stunning bloom, he generously decided to share the wonder of the plant with friends and neighbors. The blooming of this plant has assumed the stature of a neighborhood event, neighbor calling neighbor to report the expected opening. John will recreate the experience of seeing and enjoying this extraordinary plant with you – a botanical happening not to be missed!
Marie Antoinette commissioned paintings of this fascinating plant. Mary Todd Lincoln’s family organized soirees that featured the blooming of this extraordinary flower. Join us to learn about one of nature’s loveliest spectacles. Presentation by John B. Hawkins.
