A very unusual and rare plant landed in John Hawkins’ home several years ago.  As John learned the storied history of the plant and saw the stunning bloom, he generously decided to share the wonder of the plant with friends and neighbors.  The blooming of this plant has assumed the stature of a neighborhood event, neighbor calling neighbor to report the expected opening.  John will recreate the experience of seeing and enjoying this extraordinary plant with you – a botanical happening not to be missed!

Marie Antoinette commissioned paintings of this fascinating plant.  Mary Todd Lincoln’s family organized soirees that featured the blooming of this extraordinary flower.  Join us to learn about one of nature’s loveliest spectacles.  Presentation by John B. Hawkins.
