August Events
The Garden is abuzz in August! Look for dragonflies, damselflies and hummingbirds darting through the air! Our summer display of tropical and annual plants is full of vibrant colors. Blooms of hibiscus, salvias, hydrangeas, water lilies, lotus and so much more make the Garden a wonderful visit for beautiful scenery.
Even though it maybe warm now, fall and our annual Autumn In the Botanic Garden celebration will be here before you know it! Registration for our annual Scarecrows exhibit will open in early August. Start making plans to add a scarecrow to our community display! Find more information here.
NEW HOURS for SUMMER (through late September): Tuesday – Friday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
GENERAL ADMISSION is FREE for Garden members! $8 for ages 13+, $4 for ages 3-12. Children 2 and under are free, but require a ticket.
Sunday, August 1, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.: Boozy, Brunchy Dog Day
Get your tickets for this special day when your pup can join you for a walk at the Garden. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Calaveras food truck will be here with food options and Cherry & Bark ice cream cart will have exclusive flavor for the event : Boozy Blueberry Lemon and Thyme Graham Cracker, created with thyme from the Garden. Cocktails will also be available. Free for Garden members and member dogs; Regular admission and $4/dog for non-members.
Saturday, August 14, 10-noon: Supercali Saturday with the Magical Nanny
Join the Magical Nanny and friend Burt for sing and dance along, story time and creating chalk drawing art in the Children’s Discovery Garden. This come-and-go event is free with general admission. Brite Ice Sno Cones will be on-site with cool treats for sale!
Thursday, August 19, 10:30 a.m.: Treefort Storytime
We’re excited to have guest reader Yadenee Hailu from Fulton Street Books & Coffee join us to share a story under the shade of our oak trees. Free with general admission.

We’ll be open on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 6, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. with free admission for first responders and healthcare workers. See more
Mark your calendars : Our 9th annual D.I.G.: Day In the Garden will be Sunday, Sept. 26. Garden will be closed to the public for this special ticketed event which benefits our Children’s Discovery Garden.

- Masks are optional (recommended indoors for those who are not fully vaccinated) for visitors both inside the Visitor Center and outside.
