January is a great time to enjoy a walk on the nature trail, take in the evergreens, and fruits, seeds, bark that offer winter interest in the Garden.  Note: Garden will close at 3 p.m. Jan. 2 through 5 to set up and reopen at 5 p.m. for Garden of Lights (details below) .

GARDEN OF LIGHTS: Thursday – Sunday, Jan. 2-5, 5-10 p.m.
It’s our last weekend of Garden of Lights. Get out with family/friends for a stroll through colorful lights glowing in the Garden, friendly snowball fights, train rides (Thur.-Sat., 5-9 p.m.), photo booth, and more.  Tickets are $15 for ages 13+, $5 for ages 3-12, Children 2 and under are free. Garden member discount tickets are $10 for ages 13+.  

DOG DAYS OF WINTER: Fridays and Saturdays, Jan. 10 – Feb. 29 , 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Your four-legged family members can join you on a walk every Friday and Saturday from Jan. 10 to Feb. 29.  Dogs must be controlled by a non-retractable leash and up-to-date on all vaccinations and registrations. You must clean up after your dog.  NOTE: Dogs are only permitted during select “Dog Days” and times.  FREE for Garden members and member dogs. Regular admission and $4 per dog for non-members. 

FULL MOON NATURE HIKE: Friday, Jan. 10, 5-7 p.m. – CANCELLED due to weather

MAKE AN AIR PLANT LOG WORKSHOP: Saturday, Jan. 25, 11 a.m.
Green up your home or office by adding artistic plant décor! In this make and take workshop lead by Horticulture Director Cynthia Robinson, you will learn about easy-to-grow air plants and create your own design of air plants on a log. Workshop registration includes: instructions, information on air plants and their care and all materials. (One log, approximately 15”, and 4 plants – additional plants may be purchased for $5 each) Pastries and coffee will be available as well as mimosas for sale. Cost is $45 for Garden members; $55 for non-members. Limited spaces. Pre-registration required by Friday, Jan. 24.

COMING IN FEBRUARY: 

FULL MOON NATURE HIKE: Sunday, Feb. 9, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Experience the sights and sounds of native forest and prairie on a self-guided hike on our 1.5 mile Cross Timbers Nature Trail.  You may hear or see owls, coyotes, or an armadillo. Cash bar with refreshments will be available before or after your hike. Trail is uneven ground with some rocks. Suggested for ages 6+.  Registration is $10 for Garden members; $15 for non-members. 

SUCCULENT PANEL WORKSHOP: Saturday, February 15, 11 a.m.
Register now for this hands-on workshop where you will create a living art piece (12″ x 12″) of succulents nestled into a wood frame. Keep this piece in a sunny spot indoors until the cuttings have rooted and the weather warms up, then it can be hung on your wall either indoors or out. Get instructions on care of your succulent panel to enjoy your green masterpiece! Ticket price includes pastries and coffee. Mimosas will be available for sale. Registration is $95 for Garden members; $105 for non-members.
