Help Grow the Garden

Volunteering at Tulsa Botanic Garden is a great way to expand your knowledge of the Garden, meet new people, give back to your community, and share your love of plants, nature, and gardening with others. You don’t need a green thumb to be part of the Garden family! 

 

Be a part of the Magic - Volunteer for Garden of Lights!

Below are volunteer position descriptions. Volunteers must be age 18 or over. Volunteers are needed each night for these duties but you can sign up for the shifts that work for you. Take a look and then fill out our volunteer interest form with some contact information. You'll get to see and sign up for shifts. 

We will have short training/orientation on Thursday, Nov. 15, 5:30 p.m. OR Sunday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. 

GARDEN OF LIGHTS - HOSPITALITY ASSISTANTS
DATES: Every night, November 23 through January 6, 14 slots per night (except Dec. 24,25 and Jan. 1) - you can choose your schedule
SHIFTS: 7 people per shift, 2 shifts per night. 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
DESCRIPTION: Hospitality assistants will help to welcome and orient guests of the Garden to the light display. They will hand out a printed map, point guests towards the featured activities, and answer questions, all in order to facilitate a smooth experience for every guest.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be congenial, outgoing, and have an affinity for the Garden, its visitors, and preferably the holiday season. Must be able to tolerate typical Oklahoma weather conditions and stand for long periods of time (3 hour shifts, with a break). Must have knowledge of the layout of the Garden, the choreography of the event, and each night's featured activities. Must have effective verbal communication skills.

WARMING STATION ATTENDANTS
DATES: Every night, November 23 through January 6, 2 slots per night (except Dec. 24, 25 and Jan. 1) - - you can choose your schedule
SHIFTS: 2 people per shift, 2 shifts per night. 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
DESCRIPTION: Warming Station Attendants will be in charge of building and maintaining wood fires in several fire pits in the Holiday Hearth area of Garden of Lights. They will also help maintain safety by keeping fires the appropriate size and by assisting with crowd control and making sure guests maintain a safe distance.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must feel comfortable building and maintaining several wood fires at the same time. Must be congenial, outgoing, and have an affinity for the Garden and its visitors. Must be capable of tolerating typical Oklahoma weather conditions and be able to stand for the duration of the three-hour shift.
