DESCRIPTION:Join Tammie Maloney and Cindy McKinney for a 2-hour introductory class to sharpen your skills photographing the Botanic Garden. This class is for beginners as well as for those who want to improve their photography. Topics covered include composition\, equipment\, lighting and various ways to share your work. \nBring your camera of choice\, either a digital camera or your iPhone so you can practice your newfound skills. \nWorkshop is free to  Garden members; $20 for non-members. Class size is limited and tickets must be reserved in advance. Check-in with ticket at the Visitor Center. Allow for time to walk to the Mabee Grange Event Center where the class will be held.  \n

The public is invited to bring their individual fairy gardens for display and voting on Saturday and Sunday.   \n Ongoing\, Saturday and Sunday:   \n“Follow the Monarch” Exhibit by Okies for Monarchs.  As seen around Oklahoma\, including the Oklahoma Museum of Science\, “Follow the Monarchs” is a traveling art display featuring thousands of paper butterflies mimicking the monarch migration.  It will be on display in the Garden’s Visitor Center during September and October.  \nFairy Garden Contest: Drop off your Fairy Garden on Sept. 7 or 8:  The public is invited to bring their individual fairy gardens on Saturday and Sunday for display and voting in the Driskill Children’s Discovery Garden. Winners will be announced on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.  \nPlant Sale: Plants will be available for sale all weekend to those who want to take home plants to support the monarchs in their own yard.  Swamp milkweed (Asclepias incarnata)\, Blue mistflower (Conoclinium coelestinum)\, Yellow coneflower (Echinacea paradoxa)\, Purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea)\, Wild bergamot (Monarda fistulosa) \nMonarch Education Station in the Visitor Center: Live monarch rearing kits will be on display.  \nStory Walk in the Driskill Children’s Discovery Garden will feature the lifecycle of a butterfly.  \nStarting 10:30 a.m. each day: Monarch Migration Obstacle Course: An obstacle course will be set up on the main lawn for children (and adults) to experience elements of the life of the monarch.    \nFood: Rainbow Bowls Food Truck will be on hand both days from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.. DESCRIPTION:Bring your pup on this special day when dogs can join you for a walk (and sniffs!) in the Garden.\nWe’ll have free pup cups in the visitor center while supplies last. Get advance tickets online for a quick check-in at our Visitor Center.\n \nDogs must be up to date on all registrations and vaccinations and must be controlled on a non-retractable 6′ leash at all times.
