SUMMARY:Meet/Greet & Book Signing with Brie Arthur
DESCRIPTION:The Botanic Garden will host author\, landscape design consultant and correspondent on the PBS show “Growing A Greener World”\, Brie Arthur for a book signing on Thursday\, September 28 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Botanic Garden.  Brie will be signing her book The Foodscape Revolution.  Copies will be available in the Garden’s gift shop. \nIn her book\, Brie encourages readers to look at under-utilized garden spaces around homes or in the landscaped common spaces of planned communities – and see where food can be grown…lots and lots of it. And not in isolated patches\, but inter-planted with non-food ornamental plants for year-round beauty. This is a new way of looking at public and private spaces\, where aesthetics and function operate together to benefit individuals and entire communities. In The Foodscape Revolution\, Arthur presents her status-quo-shaking plan to reinvent the common landscape – in a way that even home owner associations would approve. Call it food gardening “in plain sight\,” and having it all.  \nThe book includes information on which edible and ornamental pairings work best to increase biodiversity\, how to situate beds to best utilize natural water and light resources\, and most importantly\, how to begin an enriched gardening lifestyle that is beneficial\, sustainable and empowering. \nIn addition to speaking internationally\, Brie Arthur serves as the foodscaping and landscape design correspondent for the PBS show “Growing a Greener World” where she shares practical advice from her one-acre suburban landscape near Raleigh\, North Carolina\, encouraging everyone to embrace the hobby and lifestyle of home gardening. Brie was recognized as a Emerging Horticultural Professional in June 2017 by the American Horticultural Society. Find more information on Brie at www.briegrows.com \nTulsa Botanic Garden is open year-round Tuesday through Sunday from 10am to 5pm\, and open late on Thursday evenings (through Nov. 2) until 8pm. Watch the calendar for special events and times! (You can also follow us on Facebook for event updates and more.) \nAdmission prices are FREE for Garden members; $8 for ages 13+; $4 for ages 3–12. SUMMARY:Meet the Artist - Christopher Curtis
DESCRIPTION:Meet artist Christopher Curtis at an informal reception that will kick off his sculpture exhibit Lifting the Landscape. Curtis’ sculptures will be on display at the Garden through August 26.  \nCurtis works primarily in stone and he often incorporates sculptural welded stainless steel or bronze into his pieces.
