SUMMARY:Stargazing Night
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the Botanic Garden’s broad skies at night! Bring your own chairs or blanket and spread out on the lawn to look up at the night sky. Telescopes will be set out behind our Visitor Center\, and our cash bar will feature hot cocoa and a selection of beer\, wine and cocktails.  You are welcome to bring snacks (no glass and no outside alcohol).   \nDoors open at 5 p.m.  Stargazing begins at 6 p.m.  Arrival by 5:45 p.m. recommended.  Drinks will be available starting at 5:30 p.m. \nThe Astronomy Club of Tulsa will share their knowledge of stellar\, planetary and deep sky objects. Tulsa Botanic Garden will provide educational handouts to assist in learning more about the night sky.  Only red flashlights are encouraged\, to improve our night vision. We recommend downloading a few astronomy/stargazing apps on your smart phone.   \nThis is a come and go event.  We are limiting the number of tickets so please do not wait to purchase them. If the weather forces us to cancel this event\, we will reschedule by noon on the event day. \nTICKETS for ages 3 and up are $10 per person for Garden members and $15 per person for non-members.  No tickets will be sold at the door. \nSOLD OUT!  Please be looking for more Stargazing or Full Moon Hikes in January.   Do you have your tickets for Botanic Garden of Lights?

SUMMARY:Full Moon Nature Hike
DESCRIPTION:Explore the sights and sounds of our native prairie and forest with a moonlit hike on our 1.5 mile Cross Timbers Nature trail. Take a self-guided walk at your own pace or arrive by 6 p.m. for a guided walk with horticulturist Matthew Southall.  Guided hike is approximately 45 minutes to an hour and is geared for ages 16 and up. Comfortable shoes\, warm clothes and red flashlights encouraged. Trail surface is mowed path and uneven surface rocks and cannot accommodate strollers\, wagons\, or wheelchairs. \nWarm drinks and other beverages as well as s’mores kits will be available for purchase before or after your walk\, with fire pits nearby.  \nEvent is come and go\, last admission at 7 p.m. to ensure time to walk trail before event closes at 8 p.m. Dogs are not permitted at this event.  \nREGISTRATION: Garden members: $10 for ages 16+\, $5 for ages 3-15.  Non-members: $15 for ages 16+\, $6 for ages 3-15.No sales at the door. Registration/tickets is online only.  \nMembers: Remember to log in to see member pricing. \n \nNOTE: If weather conditions warrant\, a decision on cancelling this event will be made by noon the day of the event and will be announced on social media and the website. \n \n

You will not need to do anything.  If you are not able to attend on Feb. 12.\, please contact us for other options via email at info@tulsabotanic.org.  Thank you! \nNursery and Plant Records Manager Lori Fry will teach all about orchids and their care as you create your own living arrangement with an orchid\, moss and driftwood\, Pre-registration required and includes materials. \nRegistration: $34 per person Garden Member / $40 per person for Non-members \nMembers: Remember to Log In to see member pricing. \nWorkshop will be held in the Garden’s Mabee Grange building. ALL PARTICIPANTS are expected to wear a mask\, regardless of vaccination status. \n \nRegistration closes on Friday\, Feb. 11 at 11:59 p.m. or when full\, whichever is first. If needed\, any updates or decision on rescheduling would be posted on website and social media by noon on Friday. \nParticipants will have the option to purchase additional materials/kits to create a second arrangement at home for: $20-includes orchid\, moss and small driftwood log OR $30 kit that includes orchid\, 2 air plants and cork bark in place of log. A limited amount of select houseplants will also be available for sale to workshop participants (about $15)  as well as a native orchid. \n

Learn to stratify wildflower seeds and wake them from their slumber. \nWildflower gardens can offer a lower-maintenance option to your landscape while also attracting pollinators like butterflies and bees. Learn how to prepare\, plant and cultivate a seed mix for wildflower gardening from Garden horticulturist Matthew Southall. \nMaterials are included with class registration and include a variety of seeds\, potting mix and small plastic container for growing seeds.  Seeds include: Echinacea purpurea\, Gaillardia pulchella\, Ammi majus\, Chrysanthemum carinatum (painted daisy)\, Cosmos bipinnatus\, Asclepias syriaca\, Zinnia elegans\, Collinsia heterophylla\, Foeniculum vulgare\, Coreopsis lanceolata and Cosmos sulphereus.  \nMaterials kit must be picked up at the Garden Visitor Center. \nRegistration: $26 Garden members /$30 non-member.   \nMiss the live class?  Workshop recording and seed kit is available.
