DESCRIPTION:Join us for this MEMBERS ONLY event as we anticipate the Oklahoma debut of FLORIGAMI IN THE GARDEN at the Botanic Garden in March! We’ll watch the multiple award-winning documentary film Origami in the Garden and learn more about Santa Fe artists Jennifer and Kevin Box\, the origami masters they collaborate with and how they create the monumental metal sculptures in their exhibitions. Kevin Box grew up in Bartlesville\, Oklahoma! \nDETAILS:\nThis Member-Only Event is FREE with reserved ticket and will be held inside our Mabee Grange event center. Gates open at 1:30 p.m.  Show tickets at Visitor Center and take short walk over to the Mabee Grange where the film will be shown. A self-led activity for children will be available in the Grange during the event. and refreshments will be available for purchase. Garden members can also shop our Gift Shop Clearance Sale.  \nPlease note: With exception of Driskill Children’s Discovery Garden to access the Mabee Grange\, all other Garden areas and Cross Timbers Nature Trail will be closed during this event.  \nABOUT:\nSanta Fe artists Jennifer and Kevin Fox exhibition ORIGAMI IN THE GARDEN was created in 2014 in collaboration with some of the world’s top origami masters. DESCRIPTION:GARDEN MEMBERS – Join us for a workshop with instructor Mae Dean Erb to learn about origami\, the Japanese art of paper folding\, and create your own works of art! With spring\, and the Oklahoma debut of FLORIGAMI IN THE GARDEN exhibition at the Garden in sight\, Mae Dean will focus on creating origami flowers\, birds and butterflies. All materials will be supplied. All ages are welcome.  \nDETAILS:\nWorkshop will be held inside our Mabee Grange event center. Drinks and refreshments will be available for purchase. Garden members will also be able to shop the Member Only Gift Shop clearance sale in the Visitor Center.  Gates will open at 1:30 p.m. to allow time for ticket check-in at Visitor Center and short walk through the Driskill Children’s Discovery Garden to the Mabee Grange Event Center.  Other areas of the Garden will not be open for visitation.  \nTICKETS: \nBecause workshop size is limited\, we require members to reserve their space with a $0 ticket. This event is open to Garden members only.  Not a member?  Join today!  \n   \nABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: \nMae Dean Erb holds a Masters Degree in Education and is a board certified educator. She presents Origami programs in libraries across the state of Oklahoma\, as well as nationally and internationally.  \nMae Dean received a Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholarship to Japan\, and also lived in Okinawa\, Japan for two years\, where she gained firsthand insight into this ancient Japanese artform. Mae Dean was named Teacher of the Year for El Reno Public Schools and was a finalist for Oklahoma’s Teacher of the Year. She has also received the Origami USA Teaching Award.

SUMMARY:Opening Day of FLORIGAMI IN THE GARDEN
DESCRIPTION:FLORIGAMI IN THE GARDEN showcases 20 installations of museum-quality metal sculptures inspired by origami\, the centuries-old Japanese art of folding paper. The larger-than-life sculptures of blooming flowers\, birds\, grazing deer\, galloping ponies\, and other flora and fauna themes will be exhibited throughout the five formal gardens at Tulsa Botanic Garden. The Oklahoma debut will also premier three new pieces by Kevin Box\, including a 17ft. tall kinetic sculpture of colorful butterflies that will float above floral displays. \nKevin Box grew up in Bartlesville\, OK and graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. His work has received numerous awards and is held in prominent collections worldwide. In 2004\, he was the youngest member ever elected to the National Sculptors’ Guild. \nFLORIGAMI IN THE GARDEN features Box’s own compositions as well as collaborations with his wife\, Jennifer\, and world-renowned origami artists Te Jui Fu\, Beth Johnson\, Michael G. LaFosse and Robert J. Lang. \nThe exhibit includes interpretive information and cast metal examples of origami folded and unfolded. DESCRIPTION:Enjoy Tulsa Botanic Garden during the golden hours of summer! We’re extending our Thursday evening hours until 8 p.m. each week through September 21\, giving you more time to take in the beauty of summer blooms and explore the stunning outdoor exhibit\, FLORIGAMI IN THE GARDEN. Snacks\, including ice cream\, popcorn\, pretzels with cheese\, and drinks including frozen lemonade\, cocktail/mocktail\, beer\, wine\, and other non-alcoholic options will be available for purchase.   \nThis nature-inspired art installation features large-scale origami sculptures nestled among the Garden’s lush landscape — the perfect setting for a summer stroll\, date night\, or relaxing evening with friends or family.  \nJuly 17: Date Night\nBring someone special and enjoy a romantic stroll among the blooms. \nTICKETS:\nAdmission is FREE for Garden Members.  \nNon-member: Ages 16+ | $15;  Ages 3-15 | $10 \nDoes not include sales tax and processing fees.  All transactions onsite are cashless.\n \nPlease Note: Guest passes are not valid during this special exhibit.  Reciprocal Admission through the American Horticultural Society network is honored for this special exhibit. To help support the Garden’s programming and exhibits like this one\, we kindly suggest a $5 donation per person with reciprocal admission through September 21\, 2025.
